This region is geographically and geologically distinct from surrounding areas, and has a widely varying landscape, with the beaches of Sligo on the west coast, the mountainous Ben Bulben region and the lakes of west Cavan</SPAN><SPAN>. </SPAN><SPAN>The region is very scenic with numerous superb panoramas as well as rolling drumlins and pastoral farmland.</SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 14 0;"><SPAN>The project </SPAN><SPAN>was</SPAN><SPAN> funded by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) under the Measure ‘Cross-border cooperation - Improving cross-border public sector co-operation</SPAN><SPAN> between 2004 - 2006.</SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 14 0;"><SPAN>The project partners were </SPAN><SPAN>Cavan, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo County Councils, Fermanagh District Council, Geological Survey Ireland, Geological Survey of Northern Ireland, the Academy of Irish Cultural Heritages at the University of Ulster and Cavan Enterprise Board.</SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 14 0;"><SPAN>Data was collected in the field using GPS and digital cameras.</SPAN><SPAN> It was also collected from external sources.</SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 14 0;"><SPAN>It is a vector dataset.
